All You Can Eat Buffet Breakfast - All You Can Eat Buffet Breakfast at Vic's Italian American Restaurant, 435 E Ridgeway St., Clifton Forge, Saturday February 6, 7-11 am, $7+ tax, children under 10 $5+tax. Proceeds benefit the Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center.

- 02/18 - Alleghany Highlands Master Naturalist Class - The course will include classroom and field study on American Naturalists, ecological concepts, weather, climate, Virginia biogeography, geology, soil sciences, botany, dendrology, mammology, aquatic ecology, hydrology, ichthyology, entomology, ornithology, herpetology, forest ecology, urban and suburban systems, interpretation, teaching skills, citizen science and more.
- 02/20 - Digital Photo Workshop: Introduction to Image Editing - Not sure what image editing is all about or if it's right for you? Then this is your workshop! Click on the link to get more information. This three-hour workshop will be held at Fire and Light Gallery in Clifton Forge and at DSLCC in Clifton Forge and Buena Vista. $35 per person. Please register early. The last workshop at the gallery sold out.
- 02/27 - YMCA SOCK HOP - First annual sock hop starts @ 7:00 pm in the YMCA Gym. Dancing, Food, Games and Prizes. Community event for youth 13 and up and adults. Child Watch available. Tickets $5 per person.

- 03/13 - Annual Chamber Dinner Meeting - The Annual Dinner Meeting at The Homestead will be Saturday, March 13th beginning at 5:30pm. $65/person.
- 03/27 - The Art of Chocolate Festival - The 5th Annual Art Of Choclate,fund-raiser for the Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center's educational programming is a tasty way to have fun and do good all at one time.
- 03/27 - the Art of Chocolate Festival - Spring is just around the corner so the Alleghany Highlands Arts & Crafts Center is already planning their Annual Chocolate Festival. Mark your calendars for March 27th, at DSLCC. More information will follow.

- 04/03 - Douthat Easter Egg Hunt - Welcome spring by celebrating Easter at Douthat. Enjoy an egg hunt and craft-making fun for the young and young at heart. A sunrise worship service is also planned for Sunday morning at the amphitheater.
- 04/03 - ANNUAL EASTER PARADE AND EGG HUNT - Parade begins at 2:00 from Mid-City Mall Parking Lot Egg Hunt will follow parade at Main Street Park - City Playground.

- 04/16 - Douthat Earth Day Celebration - Douthat's Earth Day celebration is open to all area schools. The morning is filled with environmental education programs by volunteers from organizations across the state. Students spend the afternoon participating in various volunteer projects to spruce up the park as part of the statewide Stewardship Virginia campaign.
- 04/17 - Healthy Kids Day - The YMCA is hosting its annual Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, April 17, 2010 11:00 am to 2:00 pm to celebrate healthy kids, healthy families,healthy homes. Free to the community. There will be games, demonstrations, workshops and community vendors.
- 04/17 - Kid's Fishing Day - Bring the kids for a day full of fishing, food, fun and prizes.
May 2010
- 05/01 - Girl Scout Day at Douthat - Bring the troop to this fun-filled day of activities. Throughout the day, scouts participate in programming that fulfills requirements for several badges. A $10 registration fee covers all activities, parking and a participation patch. Pack a picnic, have a cook-out or make reservations at Douthat Lakeview Restaurant for lunch.
- 05/02 - Middle Mountain Momma Mountain Bike Race - Douthat SP - Douthat State Park - Classic, signature, singletrack mountain bike race, 14th year!
- 05/07 - Magic in the Mountains in Clifton Forge - 2010 is the fifth year of our annual Magic in the Mountains Festival. This is a springtime event with local crafters, vendors, food and entertainment throughout our town. The town comes alive with events for all ages.
- 05/08 - RISE AND DINE - An All You can Eat Breakfast Buffet - Vic's Italian-American Restaurant, 435 E Ridgeway St. Clifton Forge will host a fund raising breakfast for the Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center from 7-11am. Come fill up lots of tasty choices and plenty of them so you can really enjoy a festival weekend. $7+ tax/ person, children under $5+ tax. MMMMMMM-good!

- 05/29 - Douthat Memorial Day Weekend Activities - The beach opens this weekend. Enjoy a full weekend of fun in the sun with beach games and nature, history and entertainment programs.
June 2010
- 06/04 - Senior Fishing Day - Free event designed to give area seniors an opportunity to fish and enjoy the outdoors. Lunch will be provided and drawings will be held at the end of the day.
- 06/05 - Douthat Fishing for the Kids & Clean the Bay Day - Douthat State Park and Riders Up! Outfitters sponsor this angling event for the kids. Workshops include craft activities, aquatic macroinvertebrates, fishing fundamentals, cleanup projects and fishing. Clean the Bay Day events at Douthat promote stewardship of our watersheds and the Chesapeake Bay because Douthat is in the bay's watershed.

- 09/04 - Douthat Labor Day Weekend Activities - Douthat's beach closes after Labor Day so come out one last time for beach games, nature and history programs, and other entertainment for all ages.
- 09/11 - Douthat Stewardship Virginia Waterways Cleanup Day - See how what you do in your backyard can affect neighbors downstream. This event is perfect for 4-H clubs, scouts, church groups, civic organizations, families and community volunteers wanting to participate in cleanup projects and promote the stewardship of our watersheds. Activities include stream and trail cleanup activities, children's programs and canoe tours ($5).

- 10/09 - Douthat Apple Day: A Celebration of Appalachian Heritage - Enjoy crisp mountain air, beautiful fall foliage, and celebrate the fruits of fall. Enjoy a day in the park with apple butter making, games, pelt displays, campfire cooking, hay rides, traditional Appalachian artisan and craft demonstrations, bluegrass music, clogging and great food.

- 12/01 - Douthat Ornament Making Contest - Students, 4-H club members, church youth groups and scouts are invited to compete in an event making ornaments out of natural or recycled materials. Ornaments are judged, and prizes are awarded in various categories. Schools may also contact the park for an outreach program related to the contest.
- 12/01 - New Work From The Joyful Brush - Exciting & beautiful new images by Virginia Lloyd-Davies of Fairfield, VA. Chinese brush painting in traditional calligraphic style along with contemporary Po Mo, a poured watercolor technique that dates to 6-7c. China.
